Activity Overview
Kids will design their own Italian Adventure, imagining where they would travel if they were on a trip through Italy like the characters in the book. They will draw a map and explore the country “hands on.”
- 🗺️ Step 1: Create a Travel Passport & Map
- Give each child a blank “passport” (folded paper or booklet).
- Set up stations representing different Italian cities (Rome, Venice, Florence, Naples, etc.).
- As kids visit each “destination,” they get a stamp or sticker in their passport!
- Optional: Use a large map of Italy and let kids draw their travel route!

- 🎨 Step 2: Hands-On Italian Culture Stations
- Create some stations where kids can create like historians and experience some cultural moments
🛶 Venice – Gondola Ride Challenge
- Set up an area with chairs or boxes as “boats.”
- Kids “row” using paper towel rolls as oars and learn about Venice’s canals.
🏛️ Rome – Build the Colosseum
- Provide Legos, blocks, or cardboard and challenge kids to build a mini Colosseum!
🎭 Florence – Art & Michelangelo Challenge
- Give kids a small bar of soap or clay and let them try carving like Michelangelo (simulating sculpting marble)!
- Or, tape paper under the table and let them draw like Michelangelo painting the Sistine Chapel!
🍕 Naples – Make Your Own Mini Pizza
- Provide pre-made dough (or English muffins), tomato sauce, cheese, and toppings.
- Let kids build and “bake” their own pizzas (or use paper and glue for a craft version).
🍦 Gelato Tasting
Kids taste and vote for their favorite!
Offer different flavors of gelato (or sorbet if needed).
