“Explore Egypt” Adventure: Hands-On Travel Experience for Kids
Activity Overview:
This interactive activity lets kids “travel” through Egypt, just like the characters in the book, through food, art, landmarks, and culture!

Activity Overview
Kids will design their own Egyptian Adventure, imagining where they would travel if they were on a trip through Egypt like the characters in the book. They will draw a map and explore the country “hands on.”
- 🗺️ Step 1: Create a Travel Passport & Map
- Give each child a blank “passport” (folded paper or booklet).
- Set up stations representing different Egyptian landmarks (The Nile River, Cairo, The Great Pyramids, Luxor, etc.)
- As kids visit each “destination,” they get a stamp or sticker in their passport!
- Optional: Use a large map of Egypt and let kids draw their travel route!
- 🗺️ Map & Landmark Hunt
- Activity: Egypt Explorer Map
- Color a map of Egypt.
- Mark key places:
- Giza (Pyramids + Sphinx)
- Cairo (Capital)
- Nile River
- Valley of the Kings
- Red Sea
- Bonus: Draw camels, palm trees, and boats along the Nile!
- 🎨 Step 2: Hands-On Egyptian Culture Stations
- Create some stations where kids can create like historians and experience some cultural moments
⛰️ Pyramids
- Activity: Build a Pyramid
- Use sugar cubes, LEGO, cardboard, or paper.
- Add drawings of ancient Egyptian symbols.
📜 Hieroglyphics & Writing
- Activity: Write Your Name in Hieroglyphs
- Use a hieroglyph alphabet chart.
- Create a scroll or “stone tablet” using brown paper and markers.
- Craft: Make a cartouche (name tag) with foil or paper.
⛵️ Nile River Adventure
- Activity: Make a Mini Boat
- Use paper or craft sticks to create a model papyrus boat.
- Float it in a tub or sink!
- Journal Prompt: What would you see on a boat trip down the Nile 3,000 years ago?

- Try dried fruit, figs, flatbread, hummus, or honey treats.
